Market Outlook and Competition:Huge. In the late 90’s this was operated on a more full time basis. Sales approached $80K per year with no employess and very little overhead. At that time, they offered a newsletter writing service for cleaning companies and aligned themselves with Chem-Dry franchises across North America. They put together quarterly newsletters for each subscribing franchise and emailed them to them for them to use their own printer, they also ordered printing and mailing for them as well. When the owner returned to his sales career, he cut back on advertising, put together a CD with newsletters on it and phased out the custom writing service and focused on just fulfilling orders. In 2004 he purchased the assets of another marketing company - Squid Marketing. Those products were transferred to CD as well and are part of the business that is now for sale. There is a lot of potential for growth for someone that puts the effort forth to market aggressively to the carpet cleaning industry. There are other trade magazines that could be advertised in, direct mailing lists, industry bulletin boards as well as conventions. You could also create newsletters to market towards specific franchise groups as well as growth into email newsletters products.
