About the Business
Year Established:1988
Employees:54 full time -
Facilities:The Company operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility devoted to the manufacture of wood, glass and integrated metal furnishings and fixtures. Its ultra-modern woodworking plant utilizes more than $2 million worth of the latest technological equipment, including a pneumatic laminating line, three computerized panel saws, three computerized edge-banding machines, (which apply finished edges on panels), four computerized boring (drilling) machines, one CNC router and a highly versatile CAD system. The facility is clean, efficient and organized.
Market Outlook and Competition:In the Company’s home state, school spending on cabinetry each year is close to $50 million. Spending on cabinetry is forecast to continue at this level for at least the next five years as schools and school districts expand facilities to meet constitutionally mandated small class size rules. Heavy infrastructure spending in education is occurring throughout the US and in the southeast due to many factors, including rising student populations, stimulus spending, a move to smaller class sizes, and normal wear and tear. The retail sector also spends heavily on these products as every year hundreds of retail chains change their floor layout, requiring new shelving, cabinetry and fixtures. Typically chains require their franchisees to change their fixtures every five years. The Company’s three primary competitors are all based in the Upper Midwest of the US, and have annual sales of 18, 21 and 30MM respectively. Each of these companies has a significant competitive freight disadvantage in the Southeastern US compared with the Company.
