Identity preserved and certified Non-GMO and Organic soybeans are processed in the Company’s all natural crush, refinery and flour plants into meal, grits, flour and oil. Meal is sold into livestock feed markets. Non-GMO and organic grits, flour and refined oil are sold, normally in bulk, into human food markets in North America, Europe and Asia. Facilities are fully organic certified and Kosher certified. Non-GMO products comprised 87.7 percent of sales, organic products 3.3 percent, custom 7.9 percent and retail 1.1 percent for fiscal year 2007.
The crush plant is designed to process 1,200,000 bushels of soybeans per year, in an all natural process, on a seven day per week, 24 hour per day operation. Crushing is mechanical, not solvent based. Heat and pressure are used in an extruder process followed by an expeller press to separate crude oil from soy protein. The refining plant process is physical, no chemical agents are used. Over 5,800 tons of refined soybean oil was produced in fiscal year 2007. Capacities of the Company’s refinery and flour plants exceed the respective outputs of the crush plant.
Available supply of soybeans is substantial. The Company crushes about one percent of the soybeans grown within the state.
Developing business for the new crop year are expected to book the crush plant to capacity with projected annual sales over $23 million and operating income over $2.6 million.
