Hello, Peter Goodman here. I'm President at Goodman and Company Business Brokers. I've been a business broker for over 16 years and I hold the designation of Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) through the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA), which is the largest and most well-respected business brokerage organization in the United States. I have also been a workshop presenter at IBBA national conferences. We help owners of many types of small businesses sell their companies by working with them to analyze, value and then market their business to the business buying public as well as to our own database of thousands of local business buyers. We work only as a seller’s agent.

We work with all types of businesses, such as retail, service, distribution, manufacturing and health services companies located throughout Massachusetts. Through our first conversation with the owner of a business we begin working to produce a Brokers Opinion of Value, which shows the true earnings of the company. (Business brokers call this 'discretionary earnings'.)

We broker many different types of businesses, including trade, retail, service, distribution, manufacturing and other specialty companies located in Eastern and Central Massachusetts.

We work on a success fee basis, meaning we are paid at the business closing by the seller. In most cases we charge no upfront fees and pay for all marketing expenses.

There are many steps in the business sale process. It begins with meeting the owner of the business and analyzing/recasting the company's financial information and tax returns, learning about the inner working of the business and discussing strategies of finding the best buyers for the business - those with the ability to make a suitable offer for the seller and who are capable of running the company after taking over.

Our mission is to work with the business owner as a friend, confidant and adviser as we navigate through the business sale process, from listing to closing; to working with the seller's attorney and accountant and helping to negotiate the best possible terms and price.
