I am a 50-year resident of Hawaii, having lived on Oahu (Honolulu), Maui and currently on Kauai. And for potential buyers looking for someone knowledgeable on the Big Island, I have current listings on this island and have visited it on many occasions. I know the entire state very, very well.
I am a professional. I have 30+ years as an Officer/Vice President at Bank of Hawaii and First Hawaiian Bank in commercial banking. While I have been doing M&A / Business Brokerage for only the last 11 years, I have a deep knowledge of commercial lending. District Governor), and then on to Finance Committee/Treasurer/Board of Director positions with the local hospital, the local Contractor Association, my church, my children’s private school, my local and state Board of Realtors organization (as Treasurer), the Kauai United Way and its budget/allocation committee… My most significant community activity was my “founding” of the $130 million+ revenue Kauai Island Utility Cooperative which I continue to sit as a board member and Chair of the Strategic Planning committee.
I am well educated, having attended and graduated from Punahou School (President Obama’s school), Dartmouth College (an Ivy League school) and the University of Hawaii Shideler Graduate School of Business where I earned my MBA. As a licensed Real Estate Commercial Broker, I attend continuing education classes and as an IBBA and M & A member, I attend all the annual business broker / M & A conferences and class-room sessions provided at these conventions.
I understand business brokerage, having been one for the past 11+ years. I also purchased my brokerage business from a former business broker so I can empathize with the issues & fears facing prospective business buyers.
