Business Description

This listing is for a SaaS business created in December 2011 in the design niche. The custom built site features a software for the creative industries. Globally used by interior designers, wedding and event planners, and students of design, this software-as-a-service positions itself in between the limitations of PowerPoint and the complexity of Photoshop. With very consistent revenue and growth, a strong social following, this business currently has over 250 active customers.

The custom site was built with Java and Adobe Flex. The site offers 3 subscription plans including a 14-day free trial. Thanks to several tools, automated systems, and two employees, the Seller spends just 4 hours a week on the business mostly checking in on subscribers, and checking in with the team.

Pinterest has by far the biggest social network referral at 50%, followed by YouTube at 30%, Facebook at 12% and Instagram at 4%. Pinterest gets over 400K monthly viewers, partially due to the 17k+ followers. One of the most effective marketing strategies at the moment is working with micro-influencers, especially in the design world. The Seller also has strategies for link building, guest blogging, collaborating, creating evangelists, aligning with design schools, and more. The business's ambassador and give-away programs help make this happen.

The business has a well thought out email funnel, for both onboarding and retaining customers. The email list has over 12,000 subscribers, which includes site visitors who signed up for the free trial to use the software. There are also automated in-app sequences, as well as re-engagement and converting email campaigns.

The help desk customer support agent in the Philippines completely manages all user communication. She is 100% equipped to handle all sorts of questions and knows the product inside out. She is happy to continue with the new buyer and she is an invaluable asset to the company. She offers excellent customer support, every of day of the week.

The Brand Ambassador is from Serbia. She is happy to continue to be the Brand Ambassador and become more involved in the marketing side of the business. As a design expert herself, she understands and can relate to the user base niche. She writes weekly blog posts using the software as the visual, creates and executes design interviews with interior design experts and high-level users, spots the trends on social media and more.

The Seller has also been fine-tuning a redesign of the UX/UI which will be available to the Buyer. This includes a revised user interface and improved user experience overall, a new pricing plan tier and subscription models using the Stripe payment gateway, brand new visual identity, a sleek website design (clean & minimal), a reimagined User Dashboard layout, a revamped public profile (designed to boost work opportunities), and Instagram and Pinterest integration with Public profiles. With all these updates, it is worth noting, the actual software stays the same.

The outsourced development team and freelance developer contacts will be provided to the Buyer. They have the entire background of the business since the beginning. The Seller is happy to arrange a handover Skype call so it all goes smoothly. Please note, the Seller is a non-technical founder so the Seller has built a strong technical team around the business for various scenarios. The Seller has opted for the outsourced model since inception, building the business based on Tim Ferriss' 4-Hour Workweek.

*The Seller will be providing a very thorough documentation and SOP to aid the transition.

Growth & Expansion:
The Seller sees many opportunities for this business:

Firstly, the Seller would launch the newly designed and developed version of the front end and user dashboard which includes a complete new look and feel of the site as well as additional developments such as Stripe payment integration and new pricing plans. A lot of research has gone into the new UX/UI and re-brand of the site. Even the logo and slogan has changed. The Seller interviewed the most loyal, high-end users across the globe to get a better understanding of how they use the program and created in-depth customer persona reports and surveys to substantiate the new design. This will all be available to the buyer. The reason behind the new design is to increase the conversion rate of site visitor to paying customer.
Secondly, the Seller would continue with the development of an iPad application. The bones of the concept and brief have been done, with the development team standing by and ready to start the development of the app. All paperwork has been completed and the development team has a thorough understanding of the requirements. The Seller sees the iPad app as an additional income source, as the user base is slightly different.
Thirdly, the Seller would investigate further into re-developing the web-based program in HTML5. Again, the development team has extensive knowledge regarding this. A Proof of Concept (POC) has been done with the limitations of what can be built in HTML5 and what features need to be culled.
Fourthly, new e-design (online interior decorating service) businesses like Havenly, Decorist, Laurel and Wolf and Modsy have made professional decorating help more affordable, approachable and convenient than ever, pairing consumers with professional interior designers and in turn receiving designs with specifications. These companies would highly benefit from offering their database of designers an additional platform to create this particular business's offering, in-house.
