Established Art Supply Store w/Online Channels & Growth Potential
Business Description
Are you an artistic, creative, data-driven type of person who has also always dreamed of owning & operating your own art supply store? This is a rare & unique opportunity to make that dream a reality!
A staple in the Central Texas art community since the late 1960s, we specialize in fine art supplies, pottery supplies and even limited darkroom photography supplies. We serve the local community as well as our online customers all over the US, Canada, Mexico and occasional international online customers. We have a longstanding relationship with local schools, colleges & non-profits and are deeply rooted in the CenTex art community.
Since we took over ownership in 2017, we have contributed a huge amount of focus, attention & love into this business and have been richly rewarded with so many friendships & industry connections along the way. The yearly North American business travels, events & industry sales meetings have always been our favorite part of owning this store because of the friendships, connections & fun you will experience at these events. However, it was never our intention to be lifelong owner-operators of any retail business as my prior focus before this store was always real estate sales.
Since then, we've built a robust online infrastructure that, in itself, is extremely valuable. Once we arrived at the point where we could truly start scaling though, our life aspirations changed & we are now ready for our next chapter. Someone who is passionate about the art industry & has always wanted to run their own art supply shop is the perfect person for this store & we would love to help you carry the torch confidently into the future. You would truly have a built-in head start as we have spent almost a decade of energy & focus into building a valuable online platform that integrates our inventory with our POS as well as all the major multichannel platforms.
We have forged extremely valuable and exclusive industry relationships with vendors, distributors, suppliers, buying groups and other various connections over the years and these established connections will be warmly passed onto whoever takes over operations of the business. Some of these wholesale vendor/distributor relationships are so exclusive that they do not allow just anybody to be able to open accounts with them unless they have a dedicated brick-&-mortar art supply store which gives you an edge over those who are online-only and are not specialists in fine art supplies. We also have numerous established credit accounts with a range of Net 30-120 day payment options.
Our store has an intuitive and deeply integrated POS and online platform that gives you the abilities to sell across multiple sales channels like Amazon, eBay, Shop, TikTok, Instagram, FB, Pinterest, Walmart, Target, email, as well as emerging AI sales channels like ChatGPT, Gemini, & more as that space rapidly evolves.
We are the only true fine art supply store between Dallas & Austin and have an established local presence that is backed by hundreds of 5-star reviews across multiple search engines like Google, Yelp, & Shop App.
Local growth potential: One of our biggest opportunities is the fact that we have never had the emotional & mental bandwidth for physical classes & events. People ask us about this all the time (pretty much weekly) but we don't have the inner desire to make this a reality even though we know it would likely be successful. We also have yearly opportunities to sell at vendor markets, school events, etc. We've done this in the past and it certainly brings in revenue, but we have grown away from the hustle of physical markets.
Online potential: There is a ton of potential as we have a sizable customer/email list & have never truly focused on capitalizing on this. As I have mentioned, our infrastructure is extremely valuable as we have the ability to sell across multiple online platforms. The possibilities here are truly endless.

About the Business
- Years in Operation
- 58
- Employees
- 3 Part-time
- Facilities & Assets
- Over the years we have accumulated a good amount of merchandising racks, fixtures, shelves, gondolas, cabinets, signage, hardware and tech. When we bought the store from previous ownership, most of the items mentioned above were old & outdated. But since 2017, we have aggressively invested in replacing old racks, products, signage & displays. We have also negotiated a favorable & competitive lease close to the central business district. One of our biggest traditional strengths is the fact that we have established business with local schools and colleges.
- Market Outlook / Competition
- This is one of our biggest strengths as we are the only store of our kind in between Dallas & Austin. The only other local competitors are big box corporations that do not specialize in fine art supplies. They are mostly known for crafts, home decor and other seasonal items. We, however, focus exclusively on fine art supplies, pottery supplies, and even limited darkroom supplies. In addition to the lack of local competition, we have an online presence that is years ahead of similar stores nationwide and is ready for the newest wave of AI shopping.
- Opportunities for Growth
- We have an online presence that is years ahead of similar stores nationwide & are ready for the newest wave of AI Agentic shopping. We are very much primed for the future of ecommerce, but after years of work getting to that point, we found ourselves feeling the desire to refocus on the things we were doing before we bought this store in the first place. We have also never really taken advantage of making a businesses out of classes & events as we have only focused primarily on retail sales. People ask us about this all the time & there is opportunity.
