This is not your typical taxi. People arriving in Denali are really happy to be here and anxious for you to share some of yourself in their experience. Client interaction is nearly always a feel-good moment for everyone. If you enjoy interacting with people and love living in the beauty of the Alaskan range this could be for you.
Denali Transportation Services (DTS) is mostly a seasonal taxi/shuttle service for the Denali National Park, Healy, Cantwell, Anderson, and Clear communities with regular trips to Fairbanks, Anchorage, and anywhere you choose to serve.
Denali Transportation "drives Denali" by increasing the local economy through the movent of tourists between business and by providing a needed local transportation service moving goods, local residents, and employees.
Reservations and standing contracts make up a significant portion of the gross income. Being available, being known in the community, and good service make up the rest.
About the Business
Number of Employees:
Two 12-passenger vans can be included. Contracts and leasing add two to three more vehicles. At an additional cost, a duplex located in Healy can be included which could serve as a perfect headquarters with rooms to rent.
There is no other taxi service in the Denali area. Without proper marketing, an Uber-type driver may show up for a few weeks in the spring. The Uber market does not work well here mostly because tourists want reservations. People planning a trip to Alaska want to know who is completing the final mile of their plans. Your friendly customer service and reservation system will ensure customers walk right past any wannabe competition. There is another shuttle, "The Salmon Bake shuttle", but their goal is to move people to parent-company restaurants.
Growth & Expansion:
Many growth opportunities exist:
Better marketing of private, customer-centric travel could increase the trips to Anchorage and Fairbanks which offers good revenue and tips for the drivers.
More hunter/hiker focused marketing will increase hunter/hiker transfers to backcountry and river locations.
Winter tourism is increasing every year when DTS is the only game in town.
Any effort with travel agents increases high-level private tours.
An agreement with, or takeover of, the Salmon Bake.
Exciting and rewarding taxi/shuttle company in the heart of Alaska
