Awarded Best in Restaurants in 2024 and again in 2026, there is no question about the food, décor and service of this fine, Ulster County Italian restaurant. This is the finest non-tablecloth Italian restaurant in my decades long eating out experience.

The wait staff is engaging, service is second to none, the beer, wine and liquor flow through the restaurant. Newly renovated- floor to ceiling, it seats 90 and will often turn aside business long before all seats are full rather than compromise service. Greater profits can be had by adding temporary help to accommodate more seating, but ownership covets its reputation and refuses.

All business comes from referrals; it does not advertise. Other restaurants in the area are slow in summer months but not this one. The area is dotted with farms that invite consumers to pick from the orchards and when the picking is done, the business opens its doors to a thriving and expanded market.

Next door lies a 40-seat, 17-year young pizzeria that, like its cousin, has gone through a floor-to-ceiling renovation. It enjoys a common passageway enabling the same wait staff to service both
