Mountain Town Thrift Store
Business Description
I opened Bee Thrifty in 2022. In 2023, I opened another business in Durango. Since I delegated all responsibilities to a full-time manager, it has been self-sufficient for about two years. With a new vision and fresh innovation, the store has so much more potential. Since I am relocating out of state, I would love for this store to get the attention it deserves. We have received high-value items like designer purses, gold jewelry, and high-quality furniture. The store has several estate contacts that call us for pickups. Since opening my second business, I have not had the time to complete pickups and fill the store with elevated merchandise. With additional storage and office space, ecommerce would provide an excellent avenue to sell the higher-quality donations we receive. Our COGS is essentially $0 with us solely restocking with donations. I am very sad to let it go, but I would love to see someone love it as much as I do. The business was professionally valued by the SBDC at $25,000 - $50,000. I am listing on the very low end for a quick sale, and hopefully a cash offer.

- Market Outlook / Competition
- Located on the Historic Mill Street, this established thrift store is the only one in Bayfield. This business is set in a town between Durango (known for their heritage railroad that operates on 45.2 miles of track between Durango and Silverton) and Pagosa (home of the world's deepest geothermal hot springs), providing a traffic of customers beyond local clientele. With the recent boom in construction for local housing, as well as the steady introduction of new retail companies, the surrounding area is growing measurably.
- Opportunities for Growth
- If this were to be run as a mom and pop shop, the take home would be six figures. Payroll is the largest expense to the business. Adding ecommerce, expanding donation and open hours, and offering a pickup service would exponentially increase sales.
