About School of Rock

As educators, we’re trailblazers with our performance-based model of music instruction. You may already be familiar with the movie that bears our name. Yes, we were the little startup that inspired that movie, but the real-life School of Rock is so much more. Today we’re an education franchise with over 240 locations worldwide. We have schools in 9 countries and continue to develop and open new schools across the world.

The conventional method of music instruction is that you must master musical concepts before you move on to play songs that actually inspire you. Our approach is different. You start by learning to play and perform the songs that inspire you, and through that process you will develop mastery of music theory with the added benefit of knowing how to play with others.

Our unique approach to instruction and our love of rock music helps young, aspiring musicians find themselves, hone their talents and build the confidence they need in their lives. School of Rock is a safe place for kids to learn, develop friendships with other kids who are into music and carve out a niche for themselves in a world where they might never have felt a sense of belonging before.

Why School of Rock?

With franchising opportunities available in your city, owning a School of Rock is now easier than ever. Entrepreneur Magazine called School of Rock one of the top franchises in the world. Forbes recently named us the top music franchise in America, and Franchise Grade selected us as a Top 10 Children's Franchise in a sector that is growing at three times the franchise industry pace.

Ideal Candidate

School of Rock is the best franchise to buy for those with a passion for music, a love of children and a willingness to give back to their community. An ideal School of Rock franchisee candidate believes in our brand and our mission of providing a safe space for students to develop into musicians.

Candidates must believe in their ability to run a successful franchise. They ask the right questions in order to succeed. They must also be able to live within the process we’ve outlined, especially for the first year or two.

Training And Support

When running a business, you don’t always want to go it all alone. That’s why School of Rock provides franchisees with all the tools and guidelines needed for success. Our ultimate goal is to efficiently minimize the time it takes from signing on the dotted line to opening your doors.

For those who aren’t quite sure how to buy a franchise and turn it into a successful business, we’re going to tell you how it’s done and why we’re ranked among children’s franchises as the No. 1 Child Enrichment Program by Entrepreneur magazine.

With your staff of instructors, usually about 20 or so part-timers per school, you’ll be working day after day with professional musicians passionate about teaching their skills to children. And you will be afforded franchise training and support from industry experts who are just as connected to music as you and your staff are.

To help our franchisees manage their day-to-day operations, all franchisees are required to attend a four-day management course in Chicago where they will partake in an immersive training program that covers all aspects of what maintaining a franchise location entails. This includes marketing, employee management, IT overviews and more.

1) This is a fulfilling enterprise. This is really about self-actualization and achieving a dream of having a high-profile positive impact in the community. You can look long and hard from Alaska to Miami, but it’s really difficult to find a business you can start that’s actually fun. Maybe you can make $100 more a month at a franchise deli shop, but you’re making sandwiches. This is so much more unique. -Charles Stevenson, Owner of School of Rock Chicago West, IL

2) There’s absolutely nothing like it. It’s a proven model: The opportunity and the structure of the business and the programs are a success. There’s nothing out there in the majority of markets I know of that can compete on that level. You may have some mom-and-pop type of schools that do something similar, but we’re a global brand.-Bea Escobar, Owner of School of Rock Fayetteville, AR

3) I am 100% meeting my goals. For me, the School of Rock investment is amazing. It’s central to everything I’m about. I care about people, I care about helping kids, I love music and we’re generating cash. It’s phenomenal.-Matt Ross, Former CEO of School of Rock, Owner of School of Rock Chatham, School of Rock Cresskill and School of Rock Clark, NJ
