Exclusive visitor-map & digital concierge distribution, from $9K
Start-Up Description
===== INTRO =====
Travel Graphics International (TGI) is a family-owned travel-media business founded in 1975. We create and distribute premium, illustrated visitor-orientation maps and companion digital tools. Hawaiian hotels, resorts, and vacation ownership (timeshare) properties have long used our products as a guest amenity and decision-support tool for travelers.
Flagship clients include Four Seasons, Fairmont, Marriott, Westin, Hilton and Wyndham resorts.
===== CORE BUSINESS MODEL =====
Our core business model is proven and straightforward: Our hospitality partners want a high-quality, physical amenity they can confidently hand to every guest. Advertisers want trusted, point-of-decision exposure to travelers. TGI connects the two through ad-funded print maps for Hawai?i, paired with a QR-linked virtual concierge.
• A hotel/timeshare commits to a print quantity for guest distribution; programs range from 5,000-10,000 maps/year for smaller properties to 100,000-150,000 maps/year for larger brands or multiple properties.
• The distributor sells advertising placements (usually 8-14 ads per edition) to carefully selected local vendors (activities, dining, retail, transportation, etc.). Advertisers also receive a digital listing via the companion concierge experience.
• Ad revenue pays for production and print costs and generates profit.
• Additional revenue streams include sales of branded maps to hotels that prefer an ad-free experience; and online sales commissions.
===== COMPETITIVE DIFFERENTIATION =====
• High-quality illustrated maps (keepsake-level, not generic street maps) with deep customization for hospitality partners.
• Hand-to-hand distribution at front desks/concierges—high trust and high usage vs. brochure racks.
• Two models: ad-supported (free to properties) or ad-free branded (paid).
• Ads are easier to sell because they’re exclusive and endorsed: one advertiser per category, and the hotel helps pre-select preferred vendors—so you’re pitching warm relationships, not cold prospects.
• Print + digital together: the print map remains the primary guest touchpoint, with the QR-linked virtual concierge as a modern add-on, upsell layer, and/or intro offer for print-wary advertisers.
• 50 years of goodwill + intellectual property (IP): established brand recognition, production assets/artwork, and repeatable sales approach.
=====WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY=====
This is an exclusive, island-based distributorship built for an owner-operator who can sell. This is not a passive investment.
• Low entry point
• Proven product hotels already want
• Multiple revenue streams (print ads, ad-free programs, and digital upsells) with strong margin potential
• Pre-proven expansion opportunities (airlines, car rentals, golf courses, other territories, etc.)
• Complete training manuals
• High levels of home office support
Note: Alternative structures to the ones described in this listing may be considered for exceptionally qualified operators.
===== ALL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES =====
• Illustrated visitor-orientation maps
o Customized with key locations recommended by the lodging partner
o Either ad-supported and free to the end distributor (hotel, vacation ownership, etc.) or ad-free direct purchase
• Digital concierge and interactive map experience (QR-linked from print)
• Digital advertiser listings and upgrades (e.g., premium placements; additional digital options quoted as needed)
• Specialty/niche editions once territory is stable (e.g., golf, events)
• Map-brochures for tour companies, military, colleges, etc.)
Note on booking commissions: activity booking/commission revenue is being tested. It may become an incremental revenue stream, but it is not currently a major source of revenue.

- Market conditions favor TGI: hotels and timeshares still want a premium guest amenity they can hand to every traveler, and local activities still pay for trusted, point-of-decision exposure.
