Introduction
I work with business owners across Nevada who are thinking about selling, whether that's this year or a few years out. Most of my clients are owner-operators in trades, construction, HVAC, fabrication, and healthcare. Businesses that took years to build and deserve a process that respects that.
Selling a business is something most owners only do once. It's a big decision with a lot of moving parts, and the experience is different than selling a house or a piece of equipment. My job is to make it feel manageable. I keep things honest, keep you informed, and keep the process moving without pressure.
I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in finance and have spent the last few years focused on sellside M&A for owner-operated businesses. I work alongside Kurt Okraski and the team at M&A Business Advisors.

Over her 30 years in Business brokerage, Katrina has earned numerous distinctions including Top Producer many times over and, in 2017, Katrina was awarded the Deal Maker of the Year for Nevada from the M&A Insider, M&A Source Executive Club (2020) IBBA Chairman’s Circle Award (2022), IBBA Platinum Chairman's Circle Award (2023) M&A Source Executive Club (2023). Katrina was also the recipient of the Triumphant Award for Financial Literacy in 2019 by the Girl Scouts of the Sierra. In the late 90’s Katrina co-founded the River City Classic car show with her father which raised money for local charities and in 2020, Katrina Co-Founded Nevada HIP, a charity established to feed out of work hospitality and service industry workers during the pandemic. Over 30 years of diversified work experience across a multitude of industries lends itself well to guiding business owners on their path to success. Prior experience includes 5 years in commercial real estate as a business development professional and over twenty years in high tech with diversified experience in the areas of business development, sales, procurement, marketing, and merchandising. I have also successfully owned and operated two c-store franchises over 17 years and most recently launched a unique specialty grocery market in downtown Reno. Upon completion of active-duty with the US Army, Bill continued his education at Cal State Hayward and was licensed as a real estate broker in 1974. Bill’s initial entrepreneurial venture was the creation of Paradise Marine Exports on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. The company imported and exported saltwater tropical fish. Following a merger in 1976 with Guaranteed Hawaiian Fish, Bill led the company to become the largest shipper of tropical fish in the Hawaiian Islands. After spending years as a commercial diver, Bill and his wife Jill relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. Bill spent two years working with an industrial engineering company, learning to develop and install Short-Interval Scheduling systems for large manufacturing and distribution companies throughout the US. The experience gave him the ability to quickly analyze a company’s strengths and weakness. In 1983, Bill and a long-time friend and business associate, opened Pacific Canvas Shops, Inc. in Alameda, California. Their company manufactured stainless steel frames, canvas products, and accessories for the thriving Bay Area marine market including ski boats, yachts, Coast Guard Cutters, and the USS Carl Vinson Aircraft Carrier. Known for their high quality and custom designs they were tapped as the company to support the San Francisco Yacht Club’s entry in the 1987 America’s Cup Race. With the race win, the team, under Captain Dennis Conner, brought the cup back to the US. Expansion followed when Bill and his partner acquired an existing auto business in San Rafael. Adding the auto division, which refurbished auto interiors and auto glass with the focus being high quality Mercedes and Porsche restorations. Besides being a commercial scuba diver for 10 years Bill has a private pilots license with over 1,000 hours as Pilot in Command, he also played 3 years on the Pepsi Golf Tour. All of this practical knowledge built the base that led him to Business Brokerage. In 1995 he joined a large Business Brokerage firm of 150 associates and was awarded Rookie of the year. He remained a top producer and in 1998 was awarded Top Producing Agent of the year and has been a top producer virtually every year since. Bill’s success was not built on a long academic background rather the practical knowledge that he brought to his clients and the ability to work with people under what can be complex and stressful situations. Bill has managed Business Brokerage offices with up to 18 full time sales associates and taken the responsibilities of assisting those associates in managing not only the deal structures and financing of the transactions but the extensive compliance issues that are used to protect his clients from litigation. Bill has done valuations for SBA Lenders in the greater Sacramento area and has a large team in his professional network of the top lenders, CPA’s, attorneys and escrow officers that are seasoned and tested professionals that provide excellent services to his client base. Bill has a long history of working with transaction deal structure to help maximize the liquidity event for his Sellers. His intimate knowledge, having dealt with hundreds of companies also can benefit the buyer in identifying the weaknesses and strengths in specific industries having dealt with most types of businesses. His financial expertise in the analysis of financial statements and operating reports help his Sellers in maximizing their business value prior to going to market. Mr. Elam has been a Nevada licensed business broker since 1990 and is currently a broker associate with the BTI Group. Mr. Elam has lived in Reno, Nevada for over 35 years and also co- owns a residential/commercial cleaning company with his wife of 28 years. In addition to being a licensed business broker and business owner, he and his wife have successfully raised two young men that are graduates of the University of Nevada Reno and recently became a proud grandfather of a beautiful baby girl. Lucas began his professional career in 1998, originating mortgage loans in his hometown of Eugene, Oregon. He was consistently a top producer in the Eugene area until 2004 when he decided to relocate to the Las Vegas / Henderson, Nevada area. After arriving in Las Vegas, Lucas’ mortgage experience took him deeper into the lending and finance to a position where he was routinely collaborating with a diverse group of independent mortgage brokers. He obtained his mortgage license (NMLS) and is currently licensed in Nevada, Oregon and California. His experience in sales, marketing and negotiation inspired him to obtain his Nevada real estate license (NRED) and he expanded his scope of services into assisting clients with both lending and real estate needs. For the past ten years, Lucas has worked with both of his licenses in tandem to assist clients in negotiations to sell and/or purchase real estate. These transactions have included commercial properties, commercial leases, residential and construction loans. He also created a successful business of purchasing, restoring and selling residential properties.
